What vending machines actually need
Honest version first: most indoor machine placements need no building permit at all. Anyone selling you an "instant vending machine permit" per machine is selling you something that doesn't exist. Here's what the law actually asks for:
Indoor machines in existing businesses
No building permit in most cities. What you do need: a city business license or tax registration in each city where you operate, a state sales tax permit, and your property-owner placement agreement. Straightforward filings — this is the core of what we handle.
Outdoor and freestanding machines
Harder. Many cities require zoning review — setbacks, district restrictions, sometimes neighbor consent. These are case-by-case and take weeks, not hours. We scope and quote them separately, in writing, before anything is filed.
Food and beverage machines
Strict states and counties require health permits — California counties, Florida's DBPR vending license, Maricopa County. These involve plan review and inspections with real state timelines, typically 2 to 8 weeks. We handle them; we don't pretend they're same-day.
The Rollout Compliance Pack
Per city or county where your machines land, we file what's required and keep the records straight. Government fees are separate and paid by you, directly to the agency — we never front them and never add surprise charges.
- City business licenses and tax registrations — filed per jurisdiction, first time and renewals
- State sales tax permits — seller's permits, TPT, retailer's occupation tax, wherever you operate
- Local per-machine licenses — the cities that charge per machine get their stickers, tracked by serial
- Renewal calendar management — nearly every license is annual; we track every deadline so nothing lapses
- Health-permit states, handled honestly — FL DBPR, CA county health, Maricopa County: filed with real timelines (2–8 weeks), inspections coordinated
Filing is not approval or issuance — no one can promise those. What we promise: every filing done right, on time, and tracked.
For vending operators
Expanding into new cities? Hand us the city list. We map every license, fee, and deadline — then file them and keep the calendar.

For office coffee, pantry & micro-market companies
Micro-markets and pantry services cross the same licensing lines as vending — often with food-handling on top. Same pack, same board.
- Business licenses plus food-service requirements, mapped together
- Health-permit states handled with honest timelines
- Portfolio-wide renewal tracking
Questions
Do I need a permit for each vending machine?
Usually no. Most indoor machines in existing businesses need no building permit at all — what you need is a business license in each city where you operate, plus state tax registration. A few cities charge a small per-machine license. We'll tell you exactly which kind your cities require before you pay anything. We never sell a "permit" where the law only asks for a license — government fees always separate, paid by you.
How long do health permits take?
In strict states it is measured in weeks, not days: Florida's DBPR vending license involves plan review plus an opening inspection (up to about 30 days of state processing); some California counties ask you to apply a month or more ahead; Maricopa County can run longer. We file them and coordinate inspections — but we will not tell you they're same-day, because they aren't.Typical range 2 to 8 weeks depending on the state and county; we confirm the current timeline for your jurisdiction before filing.
What about outdoor machines?
Outdoor and freestanding machines often trigger zoning review — setbacks, district rules, sometimes neighbor consent. Machines on public sidewalks are effectively banned in most cities we researched. We evaluate outdoor placements case by case and quote them in writing first. If a city won't allow it, we'll tell you that too — before you spend a dollar.
