Fire Alarm Hotline

Fire alarm work can't wait on paperwork. We file same-day.

New system, alteration, voluntary upgrade, panel replacement — the $250 fire alarm permit is filed the day you order it. Built for fire protection contractors who'd rather be on the job than in a permit queue.

How the hotline works

  1. Pick the scope — open the order flow on your phone: new fire alarm system, system alteration, voluntary upgrade, or FACP (panel) replacement.
  2. Upload the package — plans, cut sheets, and a short scope description. Battery calculations if your AHJ wants them. Photos from the field welcome.
  3. We file it same-day — pay $250, and the permit goes to the fire department that day. Then we track it through review; correction rounds are $125 each — or step up to the $495 Complete Package (below) and corrections are handled until it's issued.

What's needed to file

  • Plans — floor plans showing device locations, panel location, and riser details
  • Cut sheets — fire alarm control panel, initiating devices, notification appliances, communicator
  • Scope type — new system, alteration, voluntary upgrade (e.g., communicator swap), or FACP replacement
  • Battery calculations — only if your AHJ requires them; we'll tell you upfront if yours does

Missing something? File anyway — we'll flag exactly what's short and keep the filing moving.

A note on San Francisco

We file San Francisco Fire Department permits weekly — over-the-counter and plan-review submittals both. SFFD inspection fees are separate and paid by the client. For other Bay Area and California AHJs, we file to each department's own process and track it the same way.

Pricing

$250 flat — permit filing service
$495 flat — Complete Package: filing + corrections until issued + city-fee coordination + issued permit delivered

Fire alarm systems go through plan review, which is why this files at the complex tier. City and fire department fees are separate and paid by the client directly — including SFFD inspection fees. We never front city fees and never add surprise charges. Filing is not approval or issuance — no one can promise those.

Contractors: fill this in at the job site, then text the link to whoever approves — building owner or GC. They tap Approve; you get the green light to file.

Questions

Voluntary upgrade or required alteration — does it matter?

Both file the same way. Voluntary upgrades (like communicator swaps) are some of our most common filings — no violation needed, just better protection. Tell us the scope and we file it.Filed same-day; city fees separate; we never promise approval.

What about the fire inspection and testing?

We can schedule the inspection for you at checkout. The AHJ runs the test (devices, panel, communicator); you bring the tech. We'll send you the confirmation and what's needed on test day.Filed same-day; city fees separate; we never promise inspection outcomes.

How fast is the permit filed?

Same day — the package goes to the fire department the day you order it. Plan review timelines after that belong to the AHJ.Filed same-day; city fees separate; we never promise approval or issuance timelines.

Do you stamp drawings or carry NICET certification?

No — PermitsPros never stamps drawings. If your scope needs an engineer's stamp, it comes from your licensed engineer and we file it with the package. We don't claim NICET certification; we file the permits.Filed same-day; city fees separate; we never promise approval.

Who pays the city and fire department fees?

The client — the building owner or GC — pays all AHJ fees directly, including plan check and inspection fees (SFFD inspection fees are billed separately by the department). Our $250 covers the filing service only; the $495 Complete Package covers filing, corrections until issued, city-fee coordination, and delivery of the issued permit.
